As Las Vegas continues to reinvent itself with the Venetian just open and Paris on its way, developers of The Resort at Summerlin are hoping that upscale travellers are ready to escape the hustle of the Strip for more elegant surroundings. Due to open June 29, The Resort is northwest of Las Vegas, about a 25-minute drive from the Strip. It's targeting not only gamblers who want to be pampered, but vacationers and business travellers who want to play golf, go to the spa and take the pampering without the gambling. The Resort controls 50 percent of the tee times at the Tournament Players Club at The Canyons, and has arrangements with other local courses. With two Regency hotels on site, a 40,000 square foot luxury spa called Aquae Sulis, restaurants including a steakhouse, French, Italian and Japanese teppanyaki and sushi, developers promise a satisfying experience even for those who never visit the 50,000-square foot casino. My only questions: How's the blackjack, and what are the video poker pay tables? This article is provided by the Frank Scoblete Network, John Robison managing editor.
